A tar-covered kitten was found wandering in an industrial area near a landfill along south Bryant Avenue in Oklahoma City. Animal welfare officers at the Oklahoma City animal shelter said that what happened to the cat was no accident, Eyewitness News 5's Mark Myers reported.
Much of the fur had been cut off the kitten, and officials said that it appeared that the tar had been on for about a week.
The seven-week old animal was suffering from respiratory problems from breathing fumes. One eye was also swollen shut after getting tar in it.
Volunteers for an animal welfare group and authorities are offering a $2,000 reward for anyone that provides information that leads to a conviction in the case. Those with tips can call 297-3108. If you have information on this case, please contact: Crime Stoppers 297-3108
