Cat shot 11 times with BB gun
Hales Corner, WI (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Jul 2, 1995
County: Milwaukee

Two teens, 15 and 16, from Hales Corners are alleged to have shot a cat 11 times with a BB gun as the injured pet ran around the master bedroom of the neighbor's home.

The 5-year old cat called Elvis is an albino. A veterinarian told police he had removed two BBs from the cat the day after the shooting. One BB was removed from the cat's skull.

The incident occurred the evening of July 2nd when a Hales Corner woman asked the 15-year old boy who lives next door to babysit her young child. The 15-year old showed up with a 16-year old friend. The two of them found a loaded BB gun in a closet.

The mother was upset that her young son had witnessed the shooting of Elvis. The 15-year old had told police the child was asleep when they were shooting the cat but the woman later found out the child had witnessed the shooting.

The 16-year old told the police he knew the cat was injured because the cat was bleeding from its mouth. He said they would have killed the cat but the woman returned home before they could.

When the police asked the 16-year old what he would have done with a dead cat, the boy said "dump the dead cat outside somewhere."

Parents of the 16-year old boy told police they would seek help for him to find out why he would commit such a cruel act.
