A 17-year old unidentified junior has been arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals, trespassing and vandalism.

A dead puppy, cat and decapitated kitten were found nailed to trees outside Troy High School as a gory prank to mark the end of the academic year. The school officials vowed to punish those responsible.

The 17-year old junior admitted he stole carcasses from a veterinarian's freezer and choppped off the kitten's head with an ax.

There were seven others questioned by detectives and they expect to make at least two more arrests. The School Superintendent, J. Kenneth Jones, said the juniors that were involved will face expulsion and the seniors will be barred from graduation ceremonies.

The police have ruled out any link to an occult ritual.

Sergeant Glenn Deveney said, "They did it as a prank to see how many people would be totally offended by it."

There were also snake innards smeared on the grounds and a disembowled opossum was thrown into a swimming pool.

"Slayer 96" was written in red dye across the administrative office window. Slayer is the name of a heavy metal band.
