David S. Colley, 62, of 14960 Collier Boulevard, Golden Gate, has been arrested and charged with cruelty to animals which is a felony.

The Crystal Lakes Resort management notified Domestic Animal Services that Colley had drowned a cat.

Colley told the animal control officers when they first questioned him he didn't know anything about the cat. Later Colley called the officers back and admitted to drowning the cat and tossing it into a Dumpster.

Colley told the officers that his neighbor had trapped the cat and asked him to dispose of it. Colley took the cat to the Dumpster area and drowned it in a 55-gallon drum of water, the cat was then placed in a plastic bag inside a box and thrown into the Dumpster.
