The dog Sandusky police rescued from Lake Erie after two men attempted to drown it June 12 has been returned to the pound after it was adopted Friday. "It wants attention so bad from anybody, it won't let any other dog near the person," Dog Warden Barbara Knapp said. "it didn't have anybody to pay attention to it before, so now it wants all the attention it can get."

Police say two white males wearing white shirts threw the dog into the Battery Park Marina with a chain embedded in its neck. Officers got the dog out of the water after 25 minutes, and the dog pound sent it to Crittercroft Companion Care in Milan Township for surgery to remove the chain.

The investigation into the two men has not yielded any suspects, Knapp said. The reward for information has grown to $400.

After successful surgery, a Sandusky woman adopted the animal on Friday but returned it this week because it did not get along with her other dog. "It loves everybody, but it does not want competition for attention," Kanpp said.

The pound shouldn't have too much trouble adopting out the animal again as interest was high last week, but this time Knapp said she will make sure it goes to a home without other animals. The black and white female Malamute/Husky mix is 9 months old and weighs 49 pounds. It can be adopted immediately.
