State police in Fulton are investigating a burglary that resulted in the theft of several guns, rifles and knives.

Police said the burglary took place at a residence on county Route 8 in the town of Granby.

The family dog was injured and was taken to a veterinary hospital and is expected to live.

A thorough examination of the family dog revealed According to veterinary officials, the dog sustained significant blunt force trauma to the head causing heavy bleeding and possible brain damage.

Police also explained that numerous handguns and long guns were among the property taken.
