Cat beaten to death
Whitehall, PA (US)

Incident Date: Saturday, Jun 4, 2005
County: Lehigh

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Kevin M. Elskoe

A Whitehall Township man punched his girlfriend's cat Saturday (June 4) and killed it, according to a humane society official.

Kevin M. Elskoe, 25, of 3315 Carbon St. told authorities that he hit the cat to ''discipline'' it for going after his friend, said Orlando Aguirre of the Lehigh County Humane Society.

The girlfriend, 31-year-old Tanica Session of the same address, found the 5-year-old, black and white cat dead under a computer desk around 8:40 p.m., Aguirre said.

Elskoe took the cat outside and buried it, Aguirre said.

Animal cruelty charges against Elskoe were filed on June 7 with District Judge Joan Snyder of Whitehall Township, Aguirre said, and a summons is to be issued.

The two counts of cruelty carry a maximum penalty of a $750 fine and 90 days in jail.
