Four men were accused of torturing and drowning a cat in Honeoye Lake last summer. The stray cat appeared at William Bodine's residence while one or more of the men were drinking at his home.
Germaine Morgan was the instigator of a plan to torture and kill the cat. The cat was thrown by Morgan from a car driven by Bodine at a speed of about 60 mph, the cat survived. Then the cat was beaten and tied to a concrete block and thrown into the lake. The cat was found on June 4 near a boat launch off Sandy Bottom Road on Honeoye lake.
The fourth man charged in the case, Germain Morgan, 25, of 2512 Routes 5 and 20, Stanley, Ontario County, has until Dec 8 to decide whether he will stand trial or plead guilty and accept a sentence of up to three years in prison.
Germaine decided to plead guilty to felony and misdemeanor charges of animal torture and cruelty. He was sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation.
William Bodine, 20, of 4411 Allens Hill Road, Honeoye, pleaded guilty to a felony court of aggravated cruelty to animals and a misdemeanor count of animal torture. Bodine will be sentenced to five years probation and 200 hours of community service.
David Violas, 23, of 5109 County Road 36, Honeoye, pleaded guilty Nov 27 to a misdemeanor charge of animal torture and will be sentenced to three years of probation and 200 hours of community service. He received a lesser sentence because he played a smaller role.
David Chapman, 18, of 13 N. Union Street, Spencerport, pleaded guilty to both felony and misdemeanor counts last week and, like Bodine, will be sentenced Dec 18 to five years of probation and 200 hours of community service.
