Cruelty investigators at the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm have arrested a Rochester man on cruelty charges against his golden retriever. King Graham, 79, of Barons St., is being charged with neglect. His dog's chain collar was severely imbedded in the dog's neck, according to court documents. The dog was removed from the property on May 4 and Graham was charged on May 26.
Graham was arraigned in Rochester City Court on June 2. A plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. He is scheduled to reappear in court on June 7 with an attorney.
The chain was surgically removed and, following a full recovery, the dog was adopted and given a new home.
The misdemeanor charge could lead to a $1,000 fine and/or one year in jail. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
