Cats shot in head with blow darts
Oklahoma City, OK (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Apr 30, 2001
County: Oklahoma

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

Two cats were shot in the head with blow darts in the Harvest Hills South neighborhood. Another cat is missing.

Volunteers for the Animal Welfare is offering a $1,000 reward for information leding to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for injuring the two cats.

Tonya Jackson who owns one of the injured cats said both cats were being treated and are doing fine. Jackson has said she will not be letting her cat outside any more.

"Obviously they were intending to kill him or they would not have aimed for his head."

The veterinarian that examined Jackson's cat said her cat was lucky. The dart went 3 inches into the animal's head but at such an angle that it only grazed the brain.

Residents of the neighborhood near Council Road and Wilshire Boulevard are encouraged to keep their pets in the house.

The maximum penalty for animal cruelty charge is either five years in prison or $500.
