The defendant allegedly left her dogs Biscuit and Midnight in her back yard. Biscuit was allegedly chained to a cement block and his choke chain collar caused a serious wound to his neck, exposing tendons and muscle. Both dogs were extremely thin. She is charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, one a class six felony and one a class one misdemeanor. Next court dates are set: Trial Management Conference on October 20, 2005 with Judge Hotham. Trial on October 27, 2005 with Judge Hotham.

Case Updates

The defendant was sentenced before Judge Steinle on January 4, 2006. She was sentenced to one year of supervised probation for the misdemeanor offense. She was sentenced to three years of supervised probation for the felony offense. The defendant was sentenced to 120 hours of community service hours and to animal education classes. The defendant is not to consume alcohol while on probation. The defendant was ordered to allow the Arizona Humane Society the option of checking her residence to ensure she is adequately taking care of the dog that she is currently responsible for. Also fined $3500.00.
