Alleged: Gabriel Arias

Gabriel Arias, a 20-year-old is accused of butchering his pet cat. He allegedly killed and ate his pet cat, police reported. Animal control was called to his home after receiving a call from his father that the cat had been butchered. Officers found the cat in pieces in a plastic bag. After being read his Miranda rights, Arias told police he received the cat from a friend four to five months ago. He states he was unable to feed the cat and he was hungry.
Police reported that Arias cut up the cat, placed it on the barbecue grill, poured barbecue sauce on it and then ate some of it.
Arias is charged with intentionally or maliciously torturing mutilating or poisoning an animal, or maliciously killing a cat. The crime is a fourth-degree felony, which carries a possible prison sentence of 18 months.
