Horse shot - 13 year old boy charged Albany, GA (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, May 4, 2005 County: Dougherty
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: 13 year old boy
Quitman- Brooks County Sheriff's Deputies say a quarter-horse is recovering from a shotgun wound inflicted by a 13 year old boy.
The boy is charged with animal cruelty. Sheriff Richard Chafin says the horse's owners claim they've had trouble with the boy shooting toward their property on Highway 122 before. He says he's not sure what type of punishment the boy might face. "It could be a probationary sentence of some type, the judge, according to what his findings were, could possibly the incarcerate the juvenile at the youth detention center," says Chafin.
There are wounds on both of the horse's hips. But Sheriff Chafin says it's unclear how many times he was shot. A veterinarian removed several shotgun pellets from the animal. References |
