Collar grown into dog's neck
Mobile, AL (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, May 4, 2005
County: Mobile

Disposition: Not Charged

Abuser names unreleased

A German Shepherd Mix was dropped off by owners at the Animal Hospital of Mobile near death. The dog was extremely swollen.

He was close to death when the owners dropped him off and they claimed they believed it to be a snake bite.  When examined thoroughly, no snake bite was found. What they did find was a two inch gash completely around the dogs neck, visibly exposing major arteries and veins.

It is believed that whatever it was that was tied around the dogs neck, was so tight it actually grew into his skin.

The good news is the dog, now named Buddy, is on the mend and looking for a home.

In two weeks, he can be someone's buddy. Those interested in adopting Buddy may call the Animal Hospital of Mobile at 251-345-8006.

The Animal Rescue Foundation wants to see charges filed in this case.
