A dog owner in West Charlotte came home from work April 26, 2005 and found two of his dogs dead, one of them had been shot.
Investigators said the shooting happened while the owner was at work. One of the dogs, a miniature daschund, had been shot. Another dog, a cocker spaniel, had been poisoned or strangled.
If the person who killed the dogs is caught, they could be charged with felony cruelty to animals. That carries a maximum punishment of one year in jail, plus a fine.
