Alleged: Charles Capone

Charles Capone, age 52, was arrested on charges of animal cruelty and selling sick puppies. Capone was charged of failing to provide veterinarian care, failing to provide food and water to a confined animal, and selling, offering to sell, or exposing diseased animals.

Each one of these charges is a class �A� misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment of up to one (1) year in prison and a $1000 fine. He was advertising his puppy business in surrounding areas and also had a website advertising his business. The local humane society had received numerous complaints about the puppy business owned by Capone. The business was called �Man�s Best Friend�.Puppies for People� and according to the eyewitness accounts the humane society had received, the puppies were kept in horrible conditions.

One eyewitness told our Investigators that she saw at least 20 puppies with matted coats
and covered in feces, another witness reported that she was wearing a white shirt and after holding one of Capone�s puppies the shirt was brown, yet another witness reporting become ill after smelling one of Capone�s puppies. He was arraigned in the Town Court of New Lebanon were he was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
