A Rochester mother and child were arrested on animal cruelty charges, according to Humane Society at Lollypop Farm officials.

Names were not revealed because one is a minor. The 12-year-old was arrested by the Rochester Police Department on April 14 and charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a felony, after throwing and smashing his cat to the ground and walls. The mother was arrested by Humane Society Investigators on April 20, 2005, and charged with neglect.

Andrew Newmark, Lollypop chief veterinarian, found spinal trauma and neurological damage to the rear legs, bladder and colon of the cat. It is now walking with a slight limp. It will soon be available for adoption.
