Two stray cats were euthanized on Jan 7 at the Lorain County Animal Emergency Center after they were brought into the facility about 1/2 an hour apart.
The tails of both cats had been cleanly cut off. One cat had both hind legs cut off and the other cat had one hind leg cut off.
David McClelland, executive director of the Lorain County Animal Protective League said, "This case is particuarly gruesome." A $5,000 reward has been offered for anyone who leads police to a suspect. Concerned citizens and APL have donated the $5,000 reward. A woman from Texas has offered $500 and a man from Beachwood gave $2,000.
Lorain police said a third cat seems to have died of similar injuries.
