Goose beaten and stabbed to death
Oklahoma City, OK (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Apr 12, 2005
County: Oklahoma

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Brandon Hicks

A 13-year-old boy was arrested this Tues. when Okla. City police found him swinging a goose by its neck and smashing it into a chain link fence, police said. Two other boys were taken into custody but released to their parents.

Brandon Hicks of Oklahoma City was booked into a juvenile detention center on an animal cruelty complaint. A felony animal cruelty charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

About 6:45 pm on April 12, 2005, a 911 caller reported three boys stabbing a duck in the 3800 block of NW 39th. The first officer found Mr. Hicks swinging the goose into the fence. A police spokesman states "The officer pulled over and sounded his siren to catch the attention of the boys and stop the abuse of the goose."

A witness said she saw the boys striking the animal. The goose, which had been stabbed with a pencil, was dead at the scene.

To send a polite letter to the prosecutor, asking for vigorous prosecution and mandatory counseling if Hicks is convicted:
