A local man has been cited for poisoning cats in Knoxville. If Charles Fisher does not fight the charge, he will have to pay a $50 fine and court costs.

The local woman who takes care of the cats he is accused of poisoning says that is not enough punishment.

Everyday Trina Jones feeds the stray and feral cats that live behind an East Knoxville strip mall. Jones works with the Feral Cat Society to spay and neuter the cats, get them their shots and find them homes.

Recently one of the tenants in the strip mall near where the cats live has tried to stop Jones.

"I see him pouring antifreeze all over the cat food I had just put down for this particular feral colony," said Jones.

Jones called 911. Animal control came and helped her clean up the antifreeze, which is deadly to cats.

They cleaned up as much as they could and put litter over it. But a couple days later, Jones found one of the cats dead.

They are both trying to cut down on the stray cat population. Now Jones is doing everything she can to stop the man she says is going about it in a deadly way.

Fisher can either pay the fine or fight the charge in city court.
