Tony A. Clemons, 39, was charged and convicted of crushing an 8-week old kitten to death and throwing it onto his porch.

Clemons was on probation for an unrelated offense when witnesses said he squeezed the kitten and threw it on the porch. The medical report said the kitten had two broken legs, four broken ribs, and other injuries.

When the kitten arrived at the veterinarian's office, it was in a comatose state, an eye was bulging and the animal had broken bones and internal injuries.

The veterinarian said, "Unfortunately Jewel died despite therapy." The kitten made it through the first night before it died from its injuries.

The kitten which was abused on June 6 belonged to a neighbor.

Killing the kitten by itself would not have brought a two year prison sentence but was enough combined with Clemons' probation violation to receive the two year prison sentence.

In addition to prison, Clemons will pay courts costs, fines and $300-$400 in restitution.

He will receive credit for the 74 days he has already spent in the Bay County Jail since his arrest.

The file on the original charge that he was placed on probation for was not available but it was 1997 case.
