Alleged: Christopher Wilson Attari

Christopher Wilson Attari, of 1011 Brandon Avenue, Columbia, was arrested on a charge of ill treatment of animals.

Attari has been charged with hitting a cat with a shovel, burying it, and causing it to die.

He had a bail hearing on July 23 at Richland County Detention Center and was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

Executive Director of the Humane Society of the Midlands, Henry Brzezinski, said Attari was also ordered to have no contact with animals.

If Attari is convicted, he could receive between six months and two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
