Two teenage boys, 13 and 15, have ben arrested on suspicion of arson and cruelty to animals. Their names were not disclosed due to their age.

They are alleged to have doused a cat with kerosene and set it on fire which started a brush fire in Redwood Valley.

The older boy (age 15) was taken to a juvenile facilty while the younger (age 13) was released to his parents.

Mendocino County sheriff's deputies said the boys told them they set the cat on fire because it scratched them. The fire burned a 25 foot area of grass, luckily it did not damage any homes or cause any injuries.

One of the boys has received an additional charge of cultivating marijuana. A 5-foot marijuana plant was found growing in his backyard.
