An American Eskimo dog was thrown off a rural bridge into the Wallkill River late Friday night. The dog was thrown about 30 feet from the bridge into the water.
Tom O'Boyle who lives near the Wallkill River in Southern Ulster County heard a splash and a dog whimpering when he went to investigate.
While the police tried to find an animal hospital to care for the injured dog, O'Boyle's 10-year old daughter grew very attached to the dog.
When the dog was turned over to the local humane society, O'Boyle's fiancee filled out the paperwork to adopt the dog. They plan to call the dog, Survivor.
The O'Boyles hope to bring the dog home to live with them.
The police do not have any idea who threw the dog into the river. References | The Associated Press - Apr 18, 2002 |
