Hoarding - dozens of cats seized Albuquerque, NM (US)Incident Date: Thursday, Mar 17, 2005 County: Bernalillo
Disposition: Not Charged
Person of Interest: Randy Henderson
A case of alleged road rage led deputies to a mobile home swarming with cats. Two witnesses claimed that Randy Henderson allegedly pointed a gun at them on Rio Bravo during a road rage incident. The teens called the sheriff's office and followed the car to the mobile home park.
Deputies were surprised when dozens of cats were found running in and around the suspect's home.
Animal control spent most of Thursday trying to trap the animals.
They said most were in pretty good shape and none appeared to be malnourished.
The manager of the mobile home park, Jim Nessle, told police his property doesn't usually have animal problems.
Henderson faces fourth degree felony charges of pointing a weapon at someone but no animal cruelty charges.
The cats will go up for adoption at Albuquerque's West Side Animal Shelter, as soon as the owner signs a release form. References « More cases in Bernalillo County, NM
