Reynaldo Chavez, AKA Pedro Gutierrez Navarro was  convicted of felony 597(a) on 1/12/98; sentenced to 7 years state prison (2nd strike case, aggravated 3 year term doubled plus 1 year for a prison prior)

Chavez was accused of beating and torturing a Labrador puppy over a month's time period.  Defendant drop-kicked puppy repeatedly, wired his muzzle shut with Chicken wire, stuffed a hose with the water running up the puppy's Anus.  Puppy left for dead in the yard when neighbors finally called.

Prior convictions: Felony theft, misdemeanor driving under the influence, misdemeanor Vandalism, and prior strike offense for assault with a deadly weapon (Hit a woman over the head with a beer bottle while in a bar.)
