Near Lindale mailboxes have been stuffed with skinned puppy heads and other animal body parts in recent days. Officials are asking for the public's help in solving these crimes.

On Monday officials were aware of at least four instances within the past two weeks on County Roads 49, 419 and 420 in which residents have found animal parts and skinned heads placed into their mailboxes.

Precinct 5 Constable Dennis Taylor said, "We know of four so far, all involve dead animals with their heads cut off and skinned."

Kenneth Fletcher of Crowded 6 Ranch, located on County Raod 410, said, "The postal lady opened the mailbox and came up here, telling me there was a dead animal in it. We couldn't tell what it was because the head was skinned. It looked like a goat or a lamb. The whole head was stuffed in there."

Nothing appeared to be missing from the box.

Fletcher said, "They took the mail out, set the head inside and then put the mail on top of it."

An investigator with the Fort Worth division of the U.S. Postal Service, Kenny Smith, said, "The charges these individuals would face will be more severe on the local level."

"Obviously we don't want people doing this sort of thing - nobody wants to go out to their mailbox and find dismembered animal parts." The local authorities are handling incidents as animal cruelty cases.

Other cases of residents finding a headless feline carcass, deer legs and other items in their mailboxes are being reported.

None of the mailboxes have been damaged.

The authorities are saying any new incidents should be left undisturbed, residents are encouraged to contact authorities immediately at (903) 882-6124.
