Beagle stolen, beaten and hanged
Dawson, PA (US)

Incident Date: Friday, Sep 20, 2002
County: Fayette

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

On Sept 20 after 9:30 p.m. someone took Dolly, a 4-year old Beagle from her pen and then relocked the pen.

PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing the dog. In addition to PETA's reward, an additional reward of $500 is being offered by a resident of Dawson.

Dolly's owner, Debbie Kallock, said "I heard her barking and then nothing."

There were not any witnesses to the torturing or the killing. She said, "Kids took the dog out of her pen, reclosed the pen, threw stones at her, then hanged her from a neighbor's fence." Dolly was discovered by a neighbor the next morning.

Trooper Eric Zona of the state police at Belle Vernon wrote in his report, "A 4-year old female beagle was found deceased at the above location. No suspect at this time."

There is a list of possible witnesses which will be provided to the police at Belle Vernon.
