A 15-year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing a neighbor's dog and then setting fire to a mobile home.

When the California Department of Forestry and the Loleta Fire Department responded to a fire on Table Bluff Road about 2:00 p.m. Sunday, they found a trailer burning and a dog that had reportedly been shot several times with a rifle.

California Department of Forestry estimated the fire caused $30,000 of damage to the mobile home and declared the home a total loss. No one was at home at the time of the fire.

An investigation by the Humbolt County Sheriff's Department and the county Arson Task Force determined the cause of the fire to be arson.

The suspect was identified and booked into the Humboldt County Juvenile Hall a short time later for the alleged arson, burglary and cruelty to animals.
