Alleged: Carmello Salamone

Founder of a Brooklyn based animal rescue group was arrested for animal abuse after several dogs were left in a filthy basement and another was found dead in his van, authorities stated. Carmello Salamone, 51, the founder and president of Hearts and Homes for Homeless Dogs Inc., was charged with seven counts of animal cruelty.
