Dog bound with tape, thrown against fence
Thibodaux, LA (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Feb 17, 2005
County: Lafourche

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged:
» Darnell Ellis
» Troy Frazier

Thibodaux police arrested two men and booked them with aggravated cruelty to animals, Police Chief Craig Melancon said. Melancon said officers were called to 1212 President St. on Feb 17 by witnesses who reported a man throwing a dog against a fence. The dog's front and rear legs were taped together and his muzzle was taped shut, Melancon said.

The man also threw a metal pipe at the dog, Melancon said.

When police arrived, the dog was lying motionless with the pipe next to it, he said.

Officers also saw two other dogs in the yard, one tied to a weight bench with a short rope and the other pinned in a small cage, he said. All three dogs were in poor condition, suffering from neglect and cruelty. Melancon said. They had no food or water, he said.

A healthy pit bull was found inside the house, he said.

All dogs were taken into custody and Darnell Ellis, 54, and Troy Frazier, 23, were arrested and booked with two counts of cruelty to animals and three counts of simple cruelty to animals.
