On February 28, 1998, a landlord was checking his rental because the tenant had moved. He found a black plastic bag in an unheated crawl space. Thinking it was just trash, he picked it up and it moved. He opened the bag and called the police. Inside was Vinnie, the Beagle, who was severely emaciated, but still alive. Vinnie tried to get up but was too weak to do so. His body temperature was 10 degrees below normal, and he had a critically low blood sugar. He weighed 13 pounds.
Scott Klasinski, 27, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He was accused of starving the dog for nearly two months and then abandonment.
At his court appearance on March 19, 1998, Klasinski pleaded not guilty.
Given a sentence of 6 months in jail after he pleaded guilty on one count of animal abuse. References | Inhumane.Org |
