more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Dog neglected, sick and emaciated Adams, MA (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Sep 8, 2004 County: Berkshire
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: David P. Sawyer
An Adams man was ordered to serve 21 months of probation and perform 40 hours of community service in Northern Berkshire District Court yesterday for mistreating a female Chihuahua so badly that a veterinarian had to euthanize it.
David P. Sawyer, 30, of Elm Street, was charged with one count of animal cruelty, fined $250 and ordered to volunteer, preferably at the Berkshire Humane Society in Pittsfield. His case was continued without a guilty finding until May 18.
An Adams Animal Control officer placed Sawyer under arrest on Sept. 8, 2004, after Humane Society employees informed him that Sawyer had left them a severely sick, emaciated dog. At the Greylock Animal Hospital in North Adams, veterinarian Michelle Gorbutt reported that the Chihuahua could not stand, was so thin that it lacked muscle mass, was blind with cataracts and had overgrown nails and severe gingivitis.
In a written statement, Sawyer stated that he received the dog from his parents, Evelyn and William Clermont, who had asked him to keep it for three weeks. Instead, he said he had the dog for three months, during which time the animal refused to eat anything but table food.
William Clermont told police that he received the dog from his friend, Joseph Perry, in June 2004, and even then it was underweight. References« MA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Berkshire County, MA
