A reward is offered for information that leads to a conviction in the recent death of a golden retriever in Gloucester, Mass.
The dog, named Carrie, was found Jan. 22 near train tracks close to the family home. The dog was taken to a local veterinary hospital, where it was pronounced dead. Officials said that the dog suffered a broken pelvis and injuries suggestive of a gunshot wound.
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is offering a $5,000 reward.
"We are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding this case. Callers can remain anonymous if they prefer. We will do everything we can to find the person or people responsible and to prosecute them," MSPCA Director of Law Enforcement Peter Gollub said.
