Shoanna Marie Braud, 30, has been charged with the stabbing of a pet dog.

She has been charged with cruelty to animals by intentionally causing cruel death or unnecessary suffering, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The dog, a chow mix, was taken to the San Juan Animal Hospital on Dec 24 with two severe and life-threatening open wounds. The dog survived the attack.

The owner of the dog told the police the dog had been stabbed several times with a butcher knife after it defecated on her floor.
