Puppy shot in the neck Cottage Grove, OR (US)Incident Date: Thursday, Aug 31, 2000 County: Lane
Disposition: Open
Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
Lucky, the black Lab mix was found by the side of Gowdyville Road outside Cottage Grove with two bullet holes in his neck. One bullet hole from the entry and one from its exit.
The injured puppy was found by Matt Baum, 17, zig-zagging across the road and taken to Brad's Cottage Grove Chevrolet. Brad Cohen, the car dealership owner, said he would pay for the dog's medical care.
The puppy is about 7 months old. After his injury was treated, Lucky, was taken to the Lane County Animal Regulation Authority where he awaits adoption. Mike Wellington, program manager at the regulation authority says, "He's a dog with a lot of love to give. He needs a family and kids and something to wear him out."
Wellington thinks Lucky was shot on purpose. Wellington doesn't have any leads on the shooting. The veterinarian who treated Lucky thought he had bee shot 12 to 24 hours before Baum found him.
Once Lucky's hair has grown back and his wounds healed completely, he shouldn't have any medical problems connected with the gunshot wound. References- Eugene OR Register-Guard - Oct 2, 2000
