Authorities seized almost 60 birds from a barn on Jan 8, after authorities acted on a tip from a concerned citizen. Deputies also seized blades and spikes that were put on the birds' feet. $1,200 in bets was also confiscated. 

Authorities found nine dead roosters. The homeowner, Juan Castillo Moran, 30, was charged with fighting game roosters, a misdemeanor, Sheriff Eddie Cathey said. Fifty other men were charged with being spectators.

The misdemeanor charges filed against 51 people carry a $500 fine and up to six months in jail.
