Six dogs, five cats and a turtle in need of medical attention were removed from a Lynwood pet store, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles reported Friday.

SPCA investigators went to the Animal House Pet Shop, 9950 State St., according to Dawn Cotterell of the SPCALA. The cats were infested with fleas and one of the dogs had a docked tail that was infected, Cotterell said.

The officers said they found phenobarbital, surgical blades and a garbage can containing two sets of dog ears wrapped in a newspaper, Cotterell said.

The animals were taken for medical treatment and evaluation, she said.
