CONVICTED: Was justice served?

Please vote on whether or not you feel the sentence in this case was appropriate for the crime. (Be sure to read the entire case and sentencing before voting.)

weak sentence = one star
strong sentence = 5 stars

more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Dogs shot with arrows
Hillsboro, OR (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Sep 6, 2000
County: Washington

Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: Brian Raymond Rowe

A neighbor found former pro football player Stan Brock's dog, Rookie, dead with an arrow in his chest Monday on a private drive about half a mile from home in the Bald Peak area. About two hours earlier, Brock let his two dogs out to run in fields off Bald Peak Road near Southwest Peaks View Drive.

The former pro football player has filed a $300,000 civil suit against a 47-year-old man accused of killing the two dogs, contending that the man cost him more than the animals' dollar value.

Brian Raymond Rowe, accused of killing his neighbor's dogs with a bow and arrow last year pleaded no contest Friday to two felony counts of first-degree aggravated
animal abuse.

Brian Raymond Rowe, 48, entered the pleas in the second day of his Washington County Circuit Court trial. Although not a direct admission of guilt, a no-contest plea means the defendant acknowledges he would be found guilty.

A Washington County judge sentenced him to 90 days in jail and ordered the man to serve an additional 60 days in a work-release center. "I hope this illustrates to the community that pets are important," Circuit Judge Timothy Alexander said after handing down the sentence.
