Four other dogs, emaciated and apparently near death, were also chained up in the yard.
The resident, 32-year-old Joseph Lewis, was arrested and booked in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
The dogs that were rescued were taken to the Roicy Duhon Animal Control Center pending further investigation. All of the dogs appeared to pit bull terriers or pit-bull mixed-breeds. References « More cases in Lafayette County, LA
