A man is charged with animal cruelty after authorities find several dogs frozen and starving. Robert Golladay called police saying someone had poisoned his dogs. But officers say that wasn't the case.

Home video taken by a neighbor reveals a German Sephard was so hungry officers say he tried to eat the gravel on the driveway.

A neighbor says the dogs were chained or locked in a cage. With no food, forced to lie in the freezing wet muddy ground, 2 dogs died.

Doug Wood, Marshall County Sheriff said, "Due to conditions the night before, the temperature was low enough some of them may have frozen to death because they didn't have any food and water."

The dogs that survived were taken to Guntersville Animal Hospital.

Case Updates

The dogs were taken and three of the 5 animals that survived have been placed in adoptive homes. The 2 other dogs still need homes.
