At aproximate 11:30 PM on the evening of April 22, 2000, the Philadelphia police department arrested 83 people participating in a dog-fighting event at a garage on North 19th street. They had two undercover officers at the event in order to catch two police officers who were also participating.
PASPCA was called to meet the police at a undisclosed location where all involved with the raid were updated on what was going on. The arrest went into Easter morning.
A total of 83 people were arrested but only 81 were formally charged. Reports state that there were minors present as well. Most of the defendants pleaded guilty or were found guilty, although a few are still running.
The animals seized were: 1 Rottweiler and three pit bulls from inside the garage and 8 were removed from inside of vehicles.
