A 15-year old terrier mix was found dead with his heart cut out and left beside his body. The killing is being investigated by the Lane County Sheriff's office.

The owner, said she and her three children had gathered with family members at a home on the 1200 block of South 26th Street (a rural deadend street).

It was only a matter of hours between the last time they saw their dog, Misha, alive and found his mutilated body lying in the street.

Misha had been like a family member. They had him for his entire life; the woman's family even had the dog's mother until her death.

The dog's owners report having seen a suspicious full size pickup truck parked down the street.

The family doesn't know of anybody that would want to get back at them.
