Over a dozen cats, 3 dogs abandoned Medford, OR (US)Incident Date: Monday, Dec 13, 2004 County: Jackson
Disposition: Not Charged
Abuser names unreleased
More than a dozen cats and three dogs have been found living in squalor in a Medford home. Their owners were reportedly evicted from the home a month ago.
Ann Wilton, a member of a volunteer group called Kitty Rescue, says the cats have matted fur, fleas and infected eyes.
Animal control officials are planning to take the cats and dogs from the home today. County animal officers are meeting with their owners, who are now staying at a Medford motel. The owners won't face criminal charges since they have been bringing food and water to the animals for the last few weeks. The hope is that most of the animals will be adopted.
Anyone willing to adopt one of the animals or provide short-term medical care to them should call the county shelter at 774-6654 or Kitty Rescue at 488-8550. References |
