Dog shot and killed in fenced backyard

Police are looking for someone who leaned over a fenced backyard in south Oklahoma City and fired a gunshot into the head of a pet dog.

Smoke, a 3 year old Great Dane, was killed sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, his owner Steve Newberry said Monday.

Newberry said he had let his dogs in the backyard Friday morning in the King's Park addition to the 1500 block of Craford Court. His wife found the dog lying in a flower bed after she returned from work about 5 p.m.

The family's golden retriever was not harmed.

Newberry said he had no complaints about his dog from anyone. Police had made no arrests Monday. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
