Dog thrown from car window Everett, MA (US)Incident Date: Tuesday, Apr 18, 2000 County: Middlesex
Disposition: Open
Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
A German Shepherd was rescued by Everett Animal Control Officer Patrick Johnston, who found the terrified dog after it was allegedly thrown from the window of a car on Commercial Street in pouring rain.
An employee working in the industrial area around 8 pm told Everett police the full-grown dog was tossed from a purple Geo Metro with a white top, which then sped off.
Johnston said the dog is black and tan with a dark face, 80 to 90 pounds and probably between 2 and 4 years old. He declined to release the gender of the animal, which was wearing a choke chain, but no tags. The dog was not seriously injured.
Cruelty to an animal is punishable by up to $1,000 in fines and/or a maximum jail sentence of one year, he said.
"This horrific act against a poor defenseless dog shouldn't go unpunished," Johnston said. "If they're capable of doing this to a dog, they're capable of doing it to a human."
He asks that anyone with information on the dog's abandonment call him at (617) 389-3367. If you have information on this case, please contact: Everett Animal Control (617) 389-3367
