Animal neglect - puppy found dead
Millington, TN (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Nov 29, 2004
County: Shelby

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Susan Talley

Empty, rusty dog crates, doghouses and animal feces reportedly told a story of animal abuse and neglect. A local news crew covering the case took pictures inside the homeowners garage, but they were reportedly so disturbing, the station would not air them on television.

An Animal Control Officer found two dogs still inside the house near Eads, Tennessee. They were allegedly underfed, thirsty and infested with fleas. Bill Crook with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department also pulled a dead puppy out of the garage.

The homeowner claims she did not abandon the animals, and that she sent several people over every night to feed them and make sure they had water, insisting, "...they had been taken care of."

Animal Control Officers say it doesn't appear that way, Bill Crooks says, "We've had problems off and on for the last 2 or 3 years about dogs running loose, pigs running loose, I think the last time she was in court was because of her goats running loose." He also says this is not the first time they've got complaints about Susan Talley, "the neighbors have called complaining about the animals, they've been feeding them - it's just becoming a community problems not just her problem."

Meanwhile people who live in the area say they just want something done to keep  Talley from hurting any more animals.
