Animal rescue workers are holding a small black cocker spaniel in protective custody. They say they are amazed the dog seems to be okay after witnesses say they saw his owner kick the dog several times and then body slam him to the ground from shoulder height.

William Carr, 29, has been charged by police for cruelty and beating an animal. The incident book place in the parking lot of a shopping plaza in the city of Buffalo.
