weak sentence = one star

more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Puppy left outside in ice storm
Levittown, PA (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Dec 31, 1997
County: Bucks

Disposition: Convicted

Defendants/Suspects:
» George Kreuzburg
» Katie Gillespie - Alleged

George Kruezburg, 35, Tullytown man was sentenced to 100 hours in jail for leaving his 10-month old puppy outside overnight in an ice storm. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and to forfeit the puppy, a settler-Laborador mix.

Kreuzberg was convicted of animal cruelty and denied he had abused the puppy. He said he would appeal Judge Wagner's decision in Bucks County Court.

Tullytown Police Chief Patrick Priore said he climbed a 20-foot ladder in an ice storm to rescue the whimpering dog, half-frozen to a blanket on Jan 14.

"The dog was laying on a block of ice, and his legs were stiff and shuddering," Priore said. "I'm surprised he lasted that long out there."

Kruezberg's live-in girlfriend, Katie Gillespie, also was charged with animal cruelty after students at a school next door told the SPCA police they had seen her kicking and striking the puppy. Kruezburg said that was not true. "Neither of us have laid a hand on that dog," he said.

Animal protection officer Kathy Myron said several people had inquired about giving the black-and brown dog, with one blue and one brown eye, a new home. If a good home is found for the dog, Judge Wagner said, he would review his order and may suspend Kruzeburg's jail sentence.
