Thomas Brinkman Jr., 33, and Sue Lynn Mettler, 25, each face two counts of animal cruelty. The Wayne County sheriff's department says they were turned in by the person from whom they were renting a barn, on Hapeman Road in the town of Wolcott.

State Police say the horses died from starvation and dehydration.

Brinkman and Mettler were given appearance tickets, and are due in court on December 2, 2004.
